We already have enough capacity to deal with local waste via incineration using Eastcroft and surrounding incinerators. Both Nottingham City and County Councils have contracts and capacity to deal with waste until 2030.
There are many reasons to oppose incineration, including:
The alternatives to incineration are cheaper, more flexible, quicker to implement and better for the environment. Rather than incinerating waste, our local authority should focus on maximising re-use and recycling alongside providing a weekly separate food waste collection for treatment by composting or anaerobic digestion.
We need to work together to stop this i I creator, first thing you can do is sign our petition.
We also need to apply pressure to our political leaders and lodge formal objections to the application, below are links to write to your local County councillor and MP and ask them to object to the planned incinerator. We have also included a link to object to the planning permission.
PLEASE DO THIS NOW, CONSULTATION IS DUE TO END ON THE 10th SEPTEMBER
